Mediation Server Role Lync

FUNCTIONS:

• translating SIP over TCP to SIP over mutual TLS
• encryption and decryption of SRTP traffic
• translation of media (G.711) on the gateway to RT Audio on CS
• Connecting external clients to internal ICE for media traversal of NAT, firewalls, ...
• Intermediary system for call flows not supported by a gateway (eg. remote worker calls on an enterprise voice client)

DESIGN CONSTRAINTS:

• can be integrated with the standard edition Front End server role in case it is a basic configuration
• cannot coexist with Lync Web Access
• cannot coexist with Lync Edge Server
• cannot coexist with Lync Enterprise edition Front End Server
